Hello and welcome to St. James’ Church, Rowledge

From the vicar, Clive Richardson

On this website you will find information about Rowledge, our church, and all that the church can offer you in the form of services, activities, support and initiatives for all ages. We hope that you will find all the information that you looking for. However, the website is always evolving so please provide us with feedback and suggestions by using the contact us facility and we will do all we can to help you.

  • Services for Sunday 25th July - 8th After Trinity

8.00am - Holy Communion. A quiet, traditional service without hymns, conducted by Revd Mark Rudall.

10.00am - Parish Communion. Revd Mark Rudall will be leading our morning service.

6:30pm - Cell Church - our informal youth-run service for those who wish to experience a more informal style.

This month's Cell service will be different as we will be showing the DVD of Rob Bell's one man show "The gods aren't angry". Rob Bell is and American speaker who is famous for the Nooma DVD's and is an inspirational speaker who uses his formidable biblical knowledge to challenge the post-modern worldview. So bring a cushion and prepare yourselves to be challenged and inspired. Please note that this service will not be suitable for children under 12.

See here for more information about the different services.

Giving for Life - We are currently thinking about giving to the local church and considering our attitude to giving and our response to God in this important area of our lives. Our 3% challenge...can you commit to paying 3% of your take home pay to the church? Speak to a Churchwarden or Mike Randall if you want more details.

Sunday Club will run throughout the summer
- We will be running special sessions looking at many of our favourite Bible stories. Please come along to find out why the whale swallowed Jonah, why the lions didn't eat Daniel and where all the loaves and fishes came from to feed the 5,000. Lots of crafts and games to help bring the stories alive.

New series of Evening services - We're introducing an exciting new series of evening services throughout 2010. Themed "Directions Please!" we are delighted to welcome a number of visiting speakers to talk about topical and interesting "life" subjects. Don't miss them...mark the 3rd Sunday in every month at 6.30pm in your diary NOW! See here for more details.

Sunday Club News

The summer program is now underway each Sunday except for the first Sunday of the month. Do come along and join in the fun.

Project leader/coordinator needed - Ben Palmer is now working in Africa after kindly giving five months of his gap year to St James. One of his greatest contributions is the Soul in the Village programme which has been highly beneficial to the whole community. We are now looking for somebody to take over the leadership of the project so that it can continue to help those in need in the parish. If you are interested please contact Becca or our vicar, Clive.

New Look Sunday Club - Jo Chipperfield is leading the revamped Sunday School which has been named Sunday Club. It is open for children aged 3 to 11 during the 10am services except the family service on the first Sunday of each month. The sessions are very well attended and feedback is positive so please do bring your children along to join in the fun and find out more about God. If you would like more information, please contact Jo on 01252 794 416 or catch her before or after one of the sessions.
