Time for Prayer During the weeks leading up to the major festivals of Christmas, Easter and Pentecost, Compline and prayer is held in church. We also hold special prayer groups from time to time.
Home Groups, Discussion Groups and Lectures We arrange these at varying times during the year and particularly in Lent. We offer a course of study that has been examined and approved by the Vicar and Pastoral Committee to ensure that the study material is appropriate and helps discussion.Full details as advertised. Sometimes talks are arranged. These may be a one-off or as a series. These are well advertised in Church, on this website and in our local magazine, the Rowledge Review, and are free and open to all. A fornightly House Group started on 29th September at the New House in Church Lane (next to the Vicarage) at 10.00am. Studying Mark's gospel...this was the first Gospel written and opens more dramatically than any other book in world literature..."The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God". Give it a try, you will be very welcome.
Mothers Union Rowledge Mothers’ Union meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 10.30 am. We start with a short Communion Service in Church, followed by either a talk or social event in the Parish Room. Mothers’ Union especially cares about Marriage and Christian Family Life and helping those whose family life has met with adversity. All are warmly welcome to our meetings, where we seek to offer friendship, caring and practical help and enjoyment. For further information contact The Rowledge Branch Leader, Mrs Lesley Gerhold
St James Flower Guild Flowers in church not only help decorate the church, but enhance our worship to the greater glory of God. Each week, throughout the year, except during Lent, the flowers for two pedestals are provided and arranged by “paired friends”. For the festivals of Easter, Whitsun, Harvest and Christmas we decorate the whole Church. If you would like flowers for your wedding, we have strong contacts with local florists and can enhance our beautiful church building with floral displays that will make your special day extra-special! If you are interested in joining our team of flower arrangers for either the weekly rota, and/or the festivals, you will be very welcome. Please contact Mary Parratt on 01252 793616 or the Parish Office.
Parenting Course This is run each year through our Church Nursery School. It aims to offer parents a chance to review their ideas on bringing up young children and to improve their skills. Occasionally follow-on courses dealing with the issues raised by older children are also run. Please contact the Vicar if you are interested in this course.
